Mainstream Program

The Mainstream Program provides Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers to very-low income disabled families. Unlike the McKinney-Vento Homeless Programs, the Mainstream Program serves all disabled families, regardless of the type of disability.   There is no preference provided to a family with a specific type of disability.  The Mainstream Program also does not require that applicants be homeless.

Additional information on the Mainstream Program can be found in the Housing Services, Landlord Information and Resident Information sections of the site.

Mainstream Program Waiting List Lottery

On Saturday, April 25, 2009, HOM, Inc. conducted a lottery for the Mainstream Program waiting list at the Nina Pulliam Conference Center at the Disability Empowerment Center of Arizona at 5025 East Washington Street, Phoenix AZ 85034.  HOM, Inc. teamed with Arizona Behavioral Health Corporation (ABC) and Arizona Bridge to Independent Living (ABIL) to conduct the lottery.

The purpose of the lottery was to accept pre-applications from disabled individuals and families in order to establish a waiting list for FUTURE voucher availability in the Mainstream Program.  The lottery served as the method for placing applicants' pre-applications on the waiting list.

The lottery was a huge success and resulted in 124 pre-applications being accepted for placement on the waiting list.  Numbered tickets were provided to applicants, with a corresponding numbered ticket attached to their pre-application and one entered in the drawing bin.  HOM, Inc. selected one ticket from the drawing bin - Ticket 289 - which established the order of the placement of the remaining pre-applications on the waiting list.  Click on the link below to view the official results of the lottery ticket selection process.
