A few months back, we surveyed our landlord partners about financial and programmatic incentives to accept Rapid Rehousing programs at their properties. Your feedback was critical in informing policy and funding decisions to create a new financial incentive for landlords.

Rapid Rehousing is an intervention designed to help individuals and families to quickly exit homelessness and return to permanent housing. Participants are assisted for as long as is necessary for them to become financially self-sufficient and able to afford the entire Contract Rent with their own income. On average, Rapid Rehousing assistance lasts about six monthsthough it is currently lasting longer because of the pandemic and current economic conditions.

Signing Bonus Eligibility

Landlords participating in Rapid Rehousing programs may be eligible* to receive a signing bonus of up to one and a half times the monthly rent.

  • Must be a new landlord who has not worked with Rapid Rehousing before January 1, 2021; or
  • A landlord who uses modified tenant screening criteria either accepting applicants without income, with previous evictions, and/or criminal history that would previously lead to a denied application; or
  • A landlord willing to negotiate an affordable rent that is lower than the current market rate.
