How to Use the Dashboard in Our Landlord Portal 

The HOM landlord portal is your all-in-one workspace for managing your HOM-assisted tenancies, monitoring performance, and staying connected with our team. It brings everything you need into one secure online environment — from real-time financial data and occupancy insights to inspection reports and document management. At the heart of this portal is the dashboard, the first screen you see when you log in.  

Think of the dashboard as your command center: a streamlined, at-a-glance summary of what's going well, what needs attention, and how your assisted tenancies are performing overall. It's designed to give you clarity instantly, without digging through menus or switching between tools. 

In our first blog post, we introduced the full capabilities of the landlord portal. Now, we're diving deeper — starting with the dashboard. In this guide, you'll learn how to read it, navigate from it, customize it, and use it effectively whether you're at your desk or checking in from your phone.

Dashboard: The Main Widgets 

The dashboard is built around several key widgets that update automatically. 

Tenancy Statistics

This widget gives you the big-picture health of your assisted units: 

  • Total Properties with HOM-Assisted Tenancies 
  • Total active HOM-assisted tenancies 
  • Next month's Payments from HOM 

Hold Statistics 

Payment holds are always displayed front and center for your convenience. What you'll see:  

  • Total active holds affecting payments 
  • Holds that require action from you (e.g., missing W-9, or lease) 
  • Documents currently pending HOM review 
  • Total dollar amount currently on hold 

Seeing $0 in holds feels great. Seeing a number here tells you exactly what funds are waiting to be released. 

Transaction & Payment Trends 

A clean bar chart shows: 

  • Monthly HAP payment trends over the past12 months 
  • This is perfect for spotting patterns or confirming that payments are flowing normally. 

Quick Actions & Navigation 

One of the best features of the landlord portal dashboard is that it doesn't just show data – it lets you act on it instantly. 

Look for the large "Quick Action" buttons or cards: 

  • View Active Holds → jumps straight to holds you can resolve 
  • Upload Documents → opens the document uploader 
  • Recent Transactions → filtered transaction list 
  • View Properties → as an admin user you can view your full property list 
  • Manage Contacts → as an admin user you can add or edit who has access to your account 

Even better: most numbers on the dashboard are clickable. Click "6 Active Holds" and you're taken directly to the filtered Holds section. Click on the tenancy count and land on the Tenancies list. This "drill-down" design saves clicks and gets you to the detail you need in seconds.

Notifications & Alerts 

Notifications appear at the top of your landlord portal under the bell icon 

Red/urgent notifications mean money is currently blocked: 

  • New payment hold placed 
  • Missing banking info for ACH 

Standard notifications keep you informed: 

  • Document approved 
  • Payment processed and on the way 
  • Lease expiration in 60 days 

Because these appear the moment you log in, most landlords tell us the landlord portal dashboard has become their daily 30-second check-in. 

Mobile Use 

Need to check holds while you're at a property or traveling? The landlord portal dashboard is fully mobile-responsive. 

On your phone you'll see: 

  • Widgets stacked vertically

You won't see 10 widgets at once like on desktop, but everything critical is still there, and quick-action buttons are large enough to tap easily.
