How to Recognize an Employee Who Went Above and Beyond at HOM

At HOM, our people make the mission possible. Every day, HOM employees — our "HOMies" — demonstrate compassion, professionalism, and a deep commitment to helping individuals and families achieve housing stability. Whether you are a client, landlord, partner, or community member, you may have experienced a moment when a HOMie went above and beyond. That's why we created a simple way for you to recognize an employee and share your experience.

This quick guide explains what it means to be a HOMie, why recognition matters, and how you can recognize a HOM employee who made a difference.

Recognition can come from clients, landlords, partners, or community members.

Why It Matters

Employee recognition is a key part of HOM's culture. Taking time to recognize an employee helps:

  • Reinforce exceptional service
  • Encourage employees to go above and beyond
  • Strengthen a people-centered workplace
  • Support leadership decisions around recognition points and awards

Every submission helps HOM celebrate the individuals who bring our mission to life.

Who Can You Recognize?

If a HOM employee has made a positive impact on your experience, that is reason enough to recognize them. Recognition can come from clients, landlords, partners, or community members.

You might consider recognizing:

  • Housing Specialists: Housing specialists often guide individuals through permanent supportive housing and complex systems. Their patience, advocacy, and persistence can be life changing.
  • Housing Inspectors: Housing inspectors help maintain safe, compliant housing. You may want to recognize an employee who conducted a respectful inspection or helped resolve a critical issue.
  • Landlord Support Team: Our dedicated landlord support specialists and property account specialists often go the extra mile to answer questions, solve problems, and strengthen partnerships.
  • Supervisors and Program Leaders: Supervisors may step in during challenging situations, provide timely solutions, or ensure you receive the support you need.

What Happens After a Submission?

All submissions are reviewed by HOM's executive team and play an important role in how employees are celebrated.

When you recognize an employee:

  • Your recognition helps ensure great work doesn't go unnoticed.
  • Leadership gains insight into employee impact and service quality.
  • They may earn recognition points redeemable for rewards.
  • Your feedback may influence quarterly staff awards.

What to Write

When recognizing an employee, consider:

  • Being specific about what they did
  • Sharing how their actions helped you or others
  • Highlighting qualities like compassion, professionalism, or responsiveness
  • Honest, thoughtful feedback is always appreciated

Recognition Is Part of Our Culture

HOM is proud to be a top company to work for, and that starts with a culture of appreciation. When you recognize an employee, you help strengthen our teams, partnerships, and communities.

If a HOM employee made a difference in your journey, we encourage you to recognize an employee today. Your words help us celebrate the HOMies who make an impact every day.
